The Asics Gel-Ventx is a low retro runner from the SportStyle line, Asics’ lifestyle branch where running tech from the past is reintroduced as a street shoe. The silhouette is full of the features of a tech runner from the early 2000s: a mesh upper with synthetic overlays, the large GEL-VENTX lettering on the side, the Asics stripes in metallic and a sculpted, wavy sole underneath. It is the more affordable entry to that look.

Mesh, overlays and a wavy sole

The construction is that of a classic runner. Panels of mesh and smooth synthetic material overlap, with the Asics stripes running up from the midsole across the side. Underfoot sits a thick, sculptural sole with a wavy profile that gives the volume and retro look. The metallic accents and visible branding complete the tech aesthetic.

In the family of SportStyle runners

The Gel-Ventx belongs to the corner where Asics releases the retro running shoe as a lifestyle model, alongside the Gel-1130 and the Gel-NYC. Where those two are the best-known, somewhat more fully featured faces of the line, the Gel-Ventx is the more accessible variant with the same Y2K shape: low, layered and with a pronounced sole.
