Adidas Ozweego: the progenitor of the O-family
The Ozweego owes its second life not to its own fame, but to a Belgian designer. The original was a late‑1990s running shoe without hero status; it was Raf Simons who, from 2013, chose the silhouette as the basis for his adidas line and turned it into a fashion object — those collaborations have their own page. In 2019 adidas then put a redesigned Ozweego in stores for everyone, and that is the shoe that dominates this page.
The design is one big wave. The midsole edge ripples and drips as if the layers hadn’t fully hardened, with a small block of nubby texture at the heel corner as contrast. A wavy plastic cage lies over the laces, and an oval leather patch is affixed at an angle on the heel panel — the kind of detail you’ll find on every version, whatever color it wears. The midsole wall also features an adiPRENE badge: the same ’90s cushioning you see on the retro-Supernova’s sole.
The Ozweego has become the progenitor of a whole family whose members have their own pages: the Ozelia, the Ozmillen and the Ozrah — the latter is recognizable by the hidden cord lacing where the Ozelia wears regular laces. All those names start with Oz and share the wavy, melted design language; this page contains only the namesake itself.
