Adidas ClimaCool: the technology that lets air escape

ClimaCool is not a model but a promise from 2002: a shoe that lets air flow around the foot instead of trapping it. Where the most famous sneaker technology in the world — the Air of the Air Max family — locks air under your heel, ClimaCool does the opposite: holes, channels and gills, everywhere heat needs to get out. This page collects the shoes that carry that label, and they vary considerably.

The Climacool 1 is the original from 2002, returning as a reissue; the 02/17 from 2017 combines parts of the early line with a double-layer channel mesh full of elongated openings and a sole wall with translucent ribs like gills. The Vento from 2020 is the maximalist: its Boost sole is cut into separate blocks with deep channels between them, so wind can literally pass straight through — the same foam you know from the UltraBOOST, but ventilated. Welded herringbone panels sit over the mesh.

There are also simpler members: the Ventania and Ventice are the entry-level runners with the label, and HEAT.RDY marks versions tuned specifically for warm weather. One reading note: a few Climacool football boots from the F50 line also show up among the results — those belong on the pitch, not the street, and the title gives them away.
