About Adidas Adizero
Adidas Adizero: rods instead of a plate
Adizero is not a model but adidas’s speed line, and the distinctive feature is in the sole. Where most racing shoes hide one continuous carbon plate in the foam, adidas uses separate rods. On the Adios Pro you can even see their ends protruding from the sole wall: five points next to each other, one per metatarsal. They bend with the foot instead of lifting it as a whole.
Around that sits the foam the line runs on, with the full name printed on the midsole wall. The upper is kept as thin as possible each time, often semi-transparent, with the three stripes as perforated bands. Everything is built around one question: how much can you remove before the shoe gives out.
The selection on this page is large, and the name after Adizero tells what the shoe is intended for. **Adios Pro** is the marathon race shoe, with the full rod construction. **Takumi Sen** is the short-distance racer, built for 5K and 10K. **Boston** is the counterpart for training and tempo, meant for those who race in the Adios Pro. **EVO SL** uses the same race foam but leaves out the rods, making it suitable for everyday running. **Prime X** goes the other way with extra stack height.
Two branches fall outside that list. **Ubersonic** is the tennis version, built for lateral movement on a court, and older iterations like the Adizero XT and Prime Boost date from when the line still ran on Boost foam.
Those who prefer comfort over speed look to the UltraBOOST or the Supernova. They share the same brand philosophy but with the opposite goal: there, material is added instead.
On this page you can see which versions of the Adidas Adizero are currently the hottest according to the Hypescore, from what price they can be found, and in how many shops they are in stock.
