About Vans Hylane

Vans Hylane

The Hylane is Vans’ attempt to cast its skate heritage into a modern silhouette. The model takes the brand’s familiar components, with the side stripe as the main one, and places them on a wider, taller-built base than the classics. The result looks fuller than an Old Skool without denying its origins.

The details reveal the skate past. Along the side runs the signature stripe in a contrasting color, with a thick white outline around it that visually weights it. The toe features a reinforced rubber rim and the seams are finished with visible contrast stitching, exactly where a board attacks the shoe. Under the shoe lies a gum sole with the waffle tread Vans has used since the beginning, here placed on a thicker midsole.

The height is what sets it apart from the classic offering. Where traditional models remain as flat as possible for board feel, the Hylane opts for comfort and volume, making it more of an everyday shoe than skate gear.

Within the brand’s range, the Vans Knu Skool and the Vans ComfyCush answer the same demand for more volume and comfort, each from a different angle.
