ComfyCush is the brand’s answer to that criticism: a technique from 2019 where the insole and the midsole are no longer two separate parts, but one continuous piece of soft foam. The result is a classic Vans with the walking comfort of a modern sneaker, without it being immediately visible from the outside.
The clever part is what didn’t change. The ComfyCush versions of the Vans Era, the Vans Old Skool, the Vans Authentic and the Vans Slip-On retain their familiar silhouette; only those who look closely will see that the rubber rim around the sole is finished a bit tighter and smoother than the classic foxing. Besides the classics, Vans also built new models directly on the foam.
