A modern take on the California
The CA Pro — short for California Pro — builds on one of PUMA’s oldest tennis silhouettes. The original California debuted in 1982 as a training shoe and took its name from the “California technique,” in which the upper and sole are essentially pared back to two pieces to improve flexibility.
From court to street
The California made its name on the tennis court — seen on the feet of Argentine player Guillermo Vilas — but its clean, low-cut design moved onto the street with ease. By the 1980s, the model was already associated with casual style.
Chunkier and sturdier
The CA Pro takes that court DNA and turns it up: a heavier sole and contemporary materials give the classic shape a more robust presence without hiding its tennis origins.
