About Nike Vomero 17

Nike Vomero 17

The Vomero 17 is the generation in which Nike put its softest daily running shoe on two types of foam. At the bottom lies the light, responsive material from the race line, recognizable by the name printed large on the midsole edge; above that a firmer layer that gives the foot support. That combination was meant to keep the shoe soft without making it unstable.

The upper is a double-layered mesh with a padded collar and a reinforced heel cap, with the Swoosh in a contrasting color across the side and a second, smaller one on the heel. The midsole flares outward for stability, and on the bottom rubber in the wear areas provides grip.

This generation is the direct predecessor of the Nike Vomero 18, which increased the stack height further. Those who want even more stack come to the Nike Vomero Plus; the complete overview of the running line is on the page for the Nike Air Zoom Vomero.

Confusingly, a street model also bears the Vomero name: the Nike Vomero 5 from 2011 became a lifestyle favorite and shares only the name with this running line.
