The Rejuven8 is Nike’s answer to a question the brand long ignored: what do you wear after exercising. It is a foam slip-on, designed as a recovery shoe for the walk from the locker room to home, in a category that until recently was dominated by clogs and flip-flops.

The shape is strikingly idiosyncratic. The upper is one closed piece with round ventilation holes in the forefoot, the heel rises into a wavy point and thick horizontal ribs run across the sides and heel, as if a bellows construction surrounds it. The swoosh sits as a separate, raised element on the side. From the side the model looks more like a cast object than a shoe made of parts.

The name refers to the cushioning. ReactX is the successor to React foam and, according to Nike, returns more energy while its production causes fewer emissions. In a recovery shoe it’s less about rebound than softness: the sole should support tired feet, not speed them up.

The Rejuven8 is part of a wider lineup. Nike serves the same need with the Nike Calm Slide and its mule variant, while the Crocs Classic Clog and the Yeezy Foam Runner show how large this corner of the market has become.
