About Nike AL8
Nike AL8
The AL8 is a shoe that looks like it came from the archive even though there is no original. Nike built it from the design language of running models around the turn of the century: a wide, low undercarriage, panels that layer over each other, and a sole that is visibly constructed from multiple blocks. The result appears familiar, but is newly drawn.
The execution leans on material contrast. Over a mesh base lie suede panels in muted tones, alongside glossy overlays that catch the light. The Swoosh is embroidered with a coarse thread instead of being smoothly stitched, giving a handcrafted impression. On the toe there is a second, smaller brand mark in relief, and the sole extends toward the heel in a wavy block, with a separate mid-layer in a contrasting color.
The shoe follows the same approach as the brand’s other recent lifestyle lines: not a literal reissue, but a new silhouette that evokes the mood of a period. The Nike V2K Run and the Nike V5 RNR do the same from a different angle, while the Nike P-6000 actually does come from the archive.
