About Nike Air Pegasus 2005
Nike Air Pegasus 2005
The Air Pegasus 2005 is exactly what the name promises: the reissue of the running shoe Nike released that year. It’s a snapshot of the period when running shoes were still full of overlays and plastic panels, before knit uppers became the norm.
The construction is that of twenty years ago. Stitched overlays in various materials lie over a mesh base, with the swoosh as a separate panel that runs along the side and into the midsole edge. At the heel there is a plastic bridge that stabilizes the foot, and the midsole is built in separate layers with a visible window to the air chamber. On the underside a tread in colored panels provides grip.
The Pegasus line itself is the brand’s longest-running running line and now counts dozens of generations. This edition is not aimed at runners but at the street audience that rediscovered the technical silhouettes of the 2000s. The model is worn for how it looks, not for what it was built for.
Within the same vein the Nike Vomero 5 and the Nike P-6000 occupy the same street scene; the current running branch can be found on the page of the Nike Air Zoom Pegasus.
