The 370 is one of the most accessible models in New Balance’s lineup, and that’s exactly the intention. The silhouette comes from the brand’s running shoes of the 1970s: low, narrow and with the large brand letter as the defining visual element along the side.
The construction is simple. Over a mesh base lie suede panels on the toe and the heel, with the N as a separately stitched panel in a contrasting color between them. The midsole runs as an off-white band that rises slightly toward the heel, with a thin rubber outsole underneath. The model number is printed small on the heel.
That rising silhouette is what sets the model apart from the brand’s more classic numbers: it gives the shoe a slightly forward-leaning stance, as if it’s already in motion. That detail comes from the same generation of running shoes to which the better-known models also trace back.
