The Soft 7 is ECCO’s best-known sneaker and has been in production for over ten years with virtually no changes. It is a low-cut shoe of smooth, unstructured leather on a thick white sole, with six eyelets and as few additions as possible.
What stands out is what isn’t there. No panels, no contrasting colours, no large logo: only a small leather tag in a contrasting colour on the side and a second one at the back of the heel. The leather runs in one piece over the toe, with a single stitch that marks the toe cap, and the sole has a fine studded profile along the lower edge that continues onto the smooth side of the sole.
That restrained look is exactly why the model holds its own alongside sportier sneakers. The Soft 7 is often worn when a true sports shoe would be too much and a dress shoe too little, and it suits both dress trousers and jeans.
