Hyperion is Brooks’ speed division, and it’s the branch where the brand briefly sets aside its reputation as a reliable trainer manufacturer. Where the well-known models focus on comfort and durability, this line is about being as light as possible: thin uppers, minimal material and foam designed to rebound.
The line is broader than it looks. Besides the road models with a carbon plate, there are also track shoes, recognizable by the metal spikes under the forefoot and the fully open-worked upper. On those versions the brand name runs as a large diagonal across the side, with the model designation small and pressed into the midsole and an upward-sloping toe that guides the push-off.
That a brand without a lifestyle arm makes such pronounced shoes fits its audience: Brooks sells almost exclusively to runners, and they buy on performance rather than looks. You therefore never see the track models on the street.
