About Asics Superblast 2
Asics Superblast 2
The Superblast 2 is the successor to a shoe whose reputation stems from an omission. The first Superblast gave runners the feel of a racing shoe without the carbon plate that usually comes with one, so you could wear it every day. That formula proved so popular that the second generation hardly departs from it: built higher, slightly lighter, but still without a plate.
The sole remains the reason for its existence. Two foams are nested together, with the brand’s lightest and most responsive material on top; on the side the marking is embossed on a wavy block that fans out toward the heel. The toe curves upward so you naturally roll forward, and the upper is a thin ribbed weave with the crossed brand stripes over it and a heel pull tab.
The second generation focused mainly on the upper: thinner, more breathable and with less material around the instep. The amount of foam actually increased, which makes the shoe softer without making it feel slower.
In the lineup the Asics Superblast is the first generation, while the Asics Novablast brings the same idea in a lower and cheaper version. For the softest daily trainer from the brand look to the Asics Gel Nimbus.
