Asics Gel Venture

The Gel Venture has for decades been the best-kept secret on the budget shelf: Asics’ cheapest trail shoe, bought by people who wanted a decent shoe and didn’t think further. Exactly that made it interesting when fashion began to appreciate restraint. Nobody ever tried to make the Venture hip, and so it became that way by itself.

The name is on the shoe, the number after it

GEL-VENTURE is printed on the heel with the generation number after it, and GEL is molded into the material in the midsole heel. The generations on this page are mainly the Venture 6 — which has its own page — and the 7. The silhouette stays consistent across generations: a low trail runner with a web of thin straps over mesh and a toe with a bumper.

Why the 6 is the famous one

The sixth generation became the face of the revival, complete with neat reissues in muted tones that have SPS in the titles. The 7 is the evolution with a fuller silhouette and a slightly chunkier sole.
