Adidas Forum 84: the year is there for a reason
The Forum appeared in 1984 as a basketball shoe, and the addition 84 in the name means exactly what you hope: this is the version that follows the original as closely as possible. Where the regular Forum line contains modern interpretations, the 84 is the historical variant, down to the off-white tint of the leather that makes the shoe look a bit aged straight from the factory.
Two details reveal the model. On the heel panel are two rectangular cut-outs, literally holes in the leather through which you can see the lining. That is not ventilation but the Forum’s signature, and it returns on virtually every version. The second is the wide Velcro strap across the instep, and that is also present on the low version. Many people expect that strap only on high basketball shoes; on the Forum it belongs to the silhouette.
Further, it’s a shoe that shows its construction. The three stripes sit as suede bands with a row of perforations through them, the trefoil logo is large on the flank, and the midsole edge is ribbed like a gear. In the sole sidewall adidas with the trefoil is pressed.
The cuts are mixed here and the title lists them neatly. The Low is by far the most common; also included are High, Hi and Mid, which are all variants in height. A single collaboration pops up, but the core is the regular release.
