The Gel Lyte 3 is the best-known model in the range and owes that mainly to the split tongue, which falls over the instep in two halves rather than as a single piece. The construction is otherwise simple: a layered upper of suede, mesh and nylon, with gel cushioning under the heel. Because the model returns in new material combinations almost every season, dozens of variants of the same shoe sit side by side.
The Gel Lyte V is the successor and retains the split tongue, but uses a smoother upper and a cleaner line along the sole.
