Dit seizoen hebben we samengewerkt met de vrienden en familie van Daniel Johnston en het ‘Hi, How Are You Project’ om nieuwe gesprekken over geestelijke gezondheidsproblemen op te wekken door doordachte media-inhoud, projecten en evenementen te financieren en creren. Om het bewustzijn te vergroten presenteren wij met trots de Vans x Daniel Johnston Skate Authentic, met de iconische cassettebandjes van Daniel op het bovenwerk van hoogwaardig sude en canvas van 170 g. In zijn vroege jaren als songwriter tekende Daniel op individuele cassettebandjes en gaf ze dan aan vrienden en vreemden. De kunst op deze schoen bevat een checkerboard gemaakt van deze cassettebandjes, evenals dezelfde lo-fi, rauwe uitvoering van zijn iconische kunst. Opvallende skatefuncties zijn de vernieuwde DURACAP-versterkte onderlagen en het volledig vernieuwde bovenwerk, gecombineerd met een nieuwe tweedelige foxingtape en een dieper kartelpatroon op de neus, waardoor de Skate Authentic duurzaam genoeg is om dagelijks skateboarden te weerstaan. De nieuwe voorgevormde hielkap en interne tongbanden houden je voeten stevig op zijn plaats voor meer boardcontrole. Zelfs de gumrubberen zool van Vans is verbeterd met de SICKSTICK-rubbersamenstelling, voor meer grip en boardfeel. De POPCUSH-binnenzool met energieteruggave biedt superieure demping en impactbescherming en helpt vermoeidheid van je benen te verminderen tijdens langere skatesessies. De verstevigde binnenkant van de hiel biedt meer ondersteuning en stabiliteit.
