Nike P-6000

The P-6000 carries its pedigree in its name: the P stands for Pegasus, and the shoe is based on the Pegasus running shoes from around 2006. It is not a reissue of a single model but an interpretation of that era, released in 2019 when demand for silver early-2000s runners returned. What sets it apart from the rest of that group is visible at a glance.

There’s a net over the shoe

The upper is an open mesh over which thin leather strips are stitched crisscross, like a braid that spans the whole shoe. Those strips are not separate overlays but a continuous lattice: they cross each other, run under the eyelets and anchor into the midsole rim. The small outlined Swoosh sits in the middle. Of all the early-2000s runners that have returned, this is the only one where the web itself is the face.

The sole writes its own name

RIDELINER is written on the midsole, the name of the cushioning system from the donor era, and the sole lines ripple along with that handwriting. P-6000 is printed on the heel. At the front there is an oval ventilation window on the side of the toe. Silver and off-white are the base tones: the versions that best capture the era shine like running shoes around 2006 did.

Between Pegasus and the techrunners

The P-6000 hangs between two worlds. Its ancestor lives on the Nike Air Pegasus page, where the continuous running line is listed. Its company on the street is the techrunner lineup: the Zoom Vomero is the busier and more expensive take on the same era, the Asics Gel-NYC and the New Balance 9060 the counterparts from other brands. Within that lineup the P-6000 is generally the most accessible, and with its braid the easiest to recognize.
