About

Air Jordan 1 Low

Cut a shoe low and you lose more than height. On the Air Jordan 1 the wing logo sits high on the collar, and that’s exactly the part that disappears with this version. The Low is therefore the only one in the family that does not carry the model’s distinguishing mark.

What remains

The Swoosh. Without the logo above the ankle it becomes the defining visual element, and on this silhouette it appears noticeably large relative to the rest. Around it you see the same panel construction as on the high version: separate leather panels with obvious seams between them, and a row of perforations on the toe. Beneath it all lies a flat cupsole.

Why low won

On a basketball court the high collar was the shoe’s point: it provided support when landing and pivoting. Off the court that worked against it. The low cut leaves the ankle free, fits under any pant leg and is lighter to wear all day. What started as a derivative thus became the version that sells the most.

Choosing between three

The Air Jordan 1 High is the original form with the wings above the ankle. The Air Jordan 1 Mid sits in between and still keeps the logo. The Low drops both and goes fully for the everyday. They are three separate models with their own fit and price level, not variants of each other.
