When people look at a sneaker, they usually check the price first and the size second. I do it the other way around, and this Air Max 95 in “Comet Red” shows exactly why. Thirteen stores have it in stock, prices range from €103 to €201, and which of those two numbers applies to you depends largely on what size you wear.
Let’s take a look
This is the 95 as you want it: layered panels fading from dark to light, with black and dark grey suede at the top, followed by progressively lighter shades of grey down to almost white near the sole. White appears on the toe box and midsole. Red is used sparingly — on the lace loops, a swoosh on the heel and a stripe on the tongue — and returns in the Air units, which are visible at both the front and back and tinted red. The heel bubble is substantial, which is exactly where the “Big Bubble” in the name comes from.
The Hypescore is 61, while the Grail or Bail votes stand at 25 to 1. This isn’t a pair the whole world is clamoring for, but it’s one that almost nobody dislikes. For a buyer, that’s often a more comfortable starting point than a release everyone is rushing to get.
The size breakdown — this is where it gets interesting
I counted how many stores still have each size in stock. The picture isn’t evenly distributed:
- Sizes 42 through 44: twelve stores per size. Prices start at €103.
- Sizes 41, 44.5 and 45: eleven stores. Also starting at €103.
- Sizes 36 to 39: five to seven stores, with the lowest price around €105.
- Size 47: five stores, with the lowest price already at €127.
- Size 48.5: three stores, starting at €146.
- Sizes 35.5 and 49.5: two stores, starting at €133.
Take a closer look at that last group. At the edges of the size run, you’re paying anywhere from ten to more than forty euros extra before you’ve even started. Not because the shoe is different, but because there are two or three stores instead of twelve. No competition, no rock-bottom prices.
What to do with that information
Are you between sizes 41 and 45? Then you’re in the busiest part of the market, which means you can afford to be patient. Twelve sellers offering the same shoe will naturally start competing with one another. There’s little reason to accept the first price you see today.
Are you a 35.5, 48.5 or 49.5? Then the opposite applies. Waiting for a lower price only works if there’s someone able to undercut the current offer, and there isn’t here. If you see your size at a reasonable price, that’s probably your moment. At the edges of a size run, availability is the scarce commodity — not the price.
And what about the smaller sizes? Sizes 36 to 39 are nicely positioned in the middle, with five to seven stores carrying them. You can watch the market for a few weeks without immediately risking your size disappearing.
About that price ladder
From €103 to €201 is almost double the price for the exact same stylecode. That doesn’t necessarily mean someone is trying to rip you off; usually, it means the market hasn’t settled on a fixed price yet. For a buyer, that’s actually a good thing. When a shoe has one clear market price, there’s nothing to gain. With a ladder like this, there is.

This is one of those pairs you buy because the colorway works and the silhouette never goes out of style, not because a clock is ticking. Check your size first, see how many stores have it, and let that number determine whether you strike now or keep watching for a while. With twelve stores, you have time. With two, you don’t.
