Puma assigns your foot a smaller size
US 8.5 is EU 41 in Puma’s sizing. According to the generic chart, that should be EU 42. The same pattern continues throughout the range: US 8 is 40.5 instead of 41, while US 9 is 42 instead of 42.5.
So for the same foot, Puma uses a lower EU number. If you convert from a US size using a standard chart, you’ll end up half to a full size too high when shopping for Puma. The same applies to women’s sizes: all seven of the seven sizes differ.
Fit
Puma fits true to size lengthwise, but runs narrow. That is the clearest finding from the research and applies to almost the entire range.
If you have wide feet, going up half a size is the usual solution. Not because the shoe is too short, but because there is no wider version and the only way to gain extra room is through additional length.
