The rays run from the sole to the collar

The face of the 12 is in the stitching: from the mid panel stitched lines fan upward to the collar, like rays from a single point. The motif is borrowed from the rising sun on a nineteenth‑century Japanese flag, and it makes every execution recognizable, however subdued the colors. Below runs a separate band of pebbled textured leather that comes over the toe like a wave.

Metal where others use fabric

The upper lace holes are not eyelets but metal hooks, glossy mounted on the leather, and on the midsole rim JUMPMAN sits in a metal accent plate.
