Not every running shoe has to win a race. Since 2019 the Runfalcon has been adidas’s pragmatic workhorse line: a daily trainer for anyone who just wants to start running, cycles to school or walks the dog, without unnecessary extras. That very simplicity made it one of adidas’s best-selling models right now.

The design is more considered than its modest role suggests. The midsole of EVA foam features a continuous wavy ribbed pattern that runs from heel to toe along the side, the three stripes themselves are fitted with fine horizontal notches, and a curved hook line on the heel outlines the falcon motif to which the name refers. A plastic frame around the toe protects the mesh at the point where people who slip them on wear their shoes out fastest.

The 2.0 generation refined that formula and became a fixture on the streets, while the children’s versions with Velcro straps and elastic laces conquered entire schoolyards. Those seeking more cushioning or speed move up a rung within the brand to the Adidas Supernova, and the Adidas Duramo is the direct counterpart in the same accessible segment.

One naming confusion deserves a warning: the Runfalcon is not part of the Adidas Falcon family. The latter is a retro lifestyle model on a 1990s last, while the Runfalcon is a modern, functional running shoe. The names resemble each other, the shoes do not.
