About Reebok Question
The shoe Allen Iverson launched
In September 1996 a 21-year-old Allen Iverson received his first signature model, designed by Scott Hewett. The name “Question” was an answer to the doubters: could a 1,83 m guard carry a franchise? By the end of his rookie year that question had been answered.
Hexalite and the ice sole
Technically, the Question revolved around visible Hexalite cushioning — a honeycomb structure said to be three times more durable than regular EVA foam — plus a translucent “ice” outsole and a ghillie lacing system. The contrasting toe, classic in white with a red tip, drew the eye straight to Iverson’s lightning-fast footwork.
From the court to the street
The Question was bulky, loud and uncompromisingly street, against the sleek aesthetic of the mid‑1990s. It was one of the first basketball shoes that worked as well with baggy jeans as with a 76ers uniform — and at release it sold out almost immediately.
