Nike Lunar Roam

The Lunar Roam brings an old Nike technology back in a new silhouette. Lunarlon was the foam with which the brand made its running shoes soft and light in the mid‑2000s, with a name that refers to the moon because it was supposed to feel weightless. That technology disappeared from the catalog and returns here in a model explicitly intended for outdoors.

The construction is that of a hiking shoe with running‑shoe DNA. The midsole runs in thick wavy ribs around the shoe, with the marking LUNAR printed on the side, and underneath a coarse tread provides grip on unpaved terrain. The upper combines a semi‑translucent mesh with synthetic overlays and a reinforced toe, and a wide fabric loop sits on the heel.

Its positioning is between hiking and everyday wear. The model fits within the broader movement of outdoor shoes moving into the city, with technical details drawn more for the woods than for the sidewalk.
