About Nike LeBron
The signature line of LeBron James
Since LeBron James debuted in the NBA in 2003, his Nike line has run continuously: a series of basketball shoes meant to support his heavy, explosive style of play. The first model, the Air Zoom Generation, borrowed its rugged shapes from the Hummer H2 — power as design language.
Cushioning for a heavy game
The line revolves around protective cushioning. Over the years Nike layered Zoom Air, Air Max and later a combination of both into the shoes: the LeBron 7 brought Air Max into the range, the LeBron 15 combined the two under a BattleKnit upper. For a player of LeBron’s size that is not luxury but necessity.
Iconic colors
Some releases became bigger than the game. The LeBron 8 “South Beach” — hot pink and turquoise, launched around his move to Miami — remains a sought-after collector’s piece. In this way the line constantly moves between the court and the culture around it.
