Nike Air Max Plus 3

The Air Max Plus 3 is the third generation of the model better known in the Netherlands and France as the TN. Where the original from 1998 derived its shape from palm trees and waves, this version takes a step further in technique: the upper is largely knitted material instead of stitched panels, causing the characteristic ribs to run across the shoe as a single piece.

The recognisable features remain intact. The ribs still run like a skeleton up from the sole, the TN badge sits on the instep and the brand name appears in relief on the heel. Under the shoe the separate air chambers sit behind a translucent window, with the plastic bridge between them that gives the sole its stiffness. The sole’s edge on the third generation is tighter and lower than on the original.
