What is the MSCHF Super Normal?

The Super Normal is the sneaker by MSCHF, an American art collective. The idea: take the recognizable design elements of the best-known sneakers and merge them into one “average,” generic low-top silhouette, with MSCHF lettering on the sole.

What is the concept behind the shoe?

The Super Normal is a comment on sneaker culture: by bringing dozens of iconic models together in one shoe, it creates a low-top in which you recognize echoes of classics without it being any one of them. Art and wearability in one.

What is the difference between the Super Normal and Super Normal 2?

The original Super Normal is the first version; the Super Normal 2 is its successor, refining the shape and fit while retaining the same collage concept as its foundation. Pay attention to the addition in the name and the style code.

Who or what is MSCHF?

MSCHF is an American art collective known for provocative, conceptual drops, from the Big Red Boot to various art projects. The Super Normal is their own sneaker, rooted in the same satirical approach.

Are there collaborative versions of the Super Normal?

Yes. The Super Normal has appeared in collaborations and special editions, including with ACRONYM, with Japan’s Nanzuka, and in a version associated with Kid Cudi. The collage shape remains the same; the styling and theme vary by drop.

What is the Super Normal made of?

Leather or nubuck, with panels, perforations, and overlays that reference well-known models, on a cupsole with MSCHF lettering. The upper is a deliberate collage of iconic design elements.
