The Superstar that went into the woods

The Adidas Superturf Adventure is a trail hybrid that lets the DNA of the classic Superstar loose on the trail. The three stripes return as a cage over the side, but cut out with mesh windows, above a rugged trail outsole with chunky lugs and ADIPRENE+ cushioning. The silhouette comes from a collaboration with Sean Wotherspoon and breathes gorpcore: outdoor function with a distinct, colorful twist. It’s heritage and trail in one shoe.

Cage upper and a trail outsole

The construction mixes two worlds. Up top is a layered upper of mesh and nubuck with the characteristic, often zigzag-stitched stripes that enclose the foot like a cage. Underfoot sits a thick, sculpted trail outsole with aggressive lugs for grip, and ADIPRENE+ in the midsole for cushioning. That gives you the look of a terrace classic on the undercarriage of a trail shoe.

Born from a Sean Wotherspoon collab

The Superturf Adventure was created in collaboration with designer and collector Sean Wotherspoon, known for his exuberant, recycled color palettes. His editions, with bold panels and contrast stitching, set the tone for the model; later colorways range from subdued earth tones to those same exuberant mixes. The collab origin is in the shoe’s DNA.

In adidas’ gorpcore corner

The Superturf belongs to adidas’ outdoor-inspired, technical lifestyle models, in the same vein as retro-tech runners like the Response CL. Where that shoe celebrates the Y2K runner, the Superturf mixes that with real trail elements and the Superstar legacy. It’s not a hiking shoe for the mountains, but a statement sneaker with an outdoor look.
