About Ugg Neumel

Ugg Neumel

The Neumel is the most understated shoe UGG makes, and for that very reason the most worn by men. It is a chukka: a low lace shoe with two or three pairs of eyelets, a silhouette that has its roots in the British desert boot. The brand put its own stamp on it by lining the inside with sheepskin and placing the shoe on the familiar lightweight sole.

The details are restrained. The suede runs to the toe in two panels, the eyelets sit low so the instep remains free, and the brand logo is stamped into the suede on the heel rather than on a label. The wool lining curls out from the collar, which on a lace shoe creates a visible contrast you never see on a standard chukka.

Its strength is the double role. With the laces tied it’s a proper shoe, suitable for outdoors and for a full day on your feet; loosened, you slip it on like a slipper. That makes the Neumel the model that brings men who skip the brand’s boots to UGG anyway. There are also anniversary editions with a year marking on the shaft, referring to forty years of the brand’s history.

Within the range the Neumel occupies the laced side, while the Ugg Tasman occupies the slip-on side and the Ugg Classic Mini the boot side. There are even hybrids, such as a Neumel chukka with the Tasman’s braided trim around the collar.
