Ugg Lowmel

The Lowmel is the first true sneaker UGG built from its own archive. The brand took the Ugg Neumel, its sheepskin chukka, and trimmed it into a low shoe with a wide, flat silhouette straight out of the skate corner. What remained is neither a boot nor a slipper, but a shoe that reads as a sneaker on the street.

The details reveal its origin. The suede upper is constructed from panels with visible zigzag stitching, the same stitch used on the brand’s boots around the shaft. The heel carries the stamped brand logo and a wide fabric pull loop, the laces are thick and braided in two tones, and the whole sits on a slightly built-up sole with a fine tread. On the vamp, round lace eyelets create a wide, loose lacing.

The move is strategic. UGG grew big on boots and slippers, both seasonal categories, and with a sneaker the brand aims to compete year-round. That the design language borrows from skate footwear fits with where fashion is at the moment.

Within the lineup, the Lowmel covers the sneaker side, while the Ugg Tasman and the Ugg Tazz Slipper occupy the slip-on side and the Ugg Classic Mini the boot side.
