About Nike SB Dunk

Nike SB Dunk

The SB Dunk is the skateboarding version of the classic Dunk, adapted for the demands of skating. Nike took the eighties basketball silhouette and reinforced it where a skate shoe needs it: a thick, padded tongue, extra cushioning in the sole and a sturdier upper that can withstand the abrasion of grip tape.

The difference with the regular Nike Dunk is mainly in those details. The tongue is heavily padded to protect the instep, the sole contains a Zoom Air unit for cushioning on impact, and the panels are cut slightly roomier. From the outside the silhouette remains recognizable: a low shoe with separate color blocks across the toe, side and heel.

The SB Dunk became known for its endless run of collaborations and themed colorways, from skate shops to films and cartoons. Those editions often appear in small batches, which makes the model sought-after on the resale market.

The basketball version without skate modifications is on the page of the Nike Dunk.
