About Nike ISPA
Nike ISPA
ISPA stands for Improvise, Scavenge, Protect, Adapt, and that is exactly what the division does. It is Nike’s experimental arm, where designers are allowed to create models that don’t need to be immediately marketable: shoes that protect against weather and the city, using materials and constructions that would never pass muster elsewhere in the range.
You can see it in everything. Uppers are semi-transparent with visible stitching and cables across them, laces run through loose hooks instead of eyelets, and the soles feature chunky treads that suggest tools more than sport. Some models are designed to be taken apart for reuse, with components that click together instead of being glued.
The positioning is explicitly not that of a sports shoe. ISPA models are released in small runs and target those who want something that stands out, with the technology serving more as a starting point than as a promise.
Within the brand range the Nike V5 RNR and the Nike Lunar Roam cater to the same technical taste in a more accessible form.
