Nike Air Force 1 Mid: the strap makes all the difference
The Air Force 1 Low and the Mid share everything: the same last, the same thick leather, the same AIR embossed on the heel, the same perforated toe box. One element separates them, and that is the wide Velcro strap on the Mid that runs over the ankle. That strap is detached from the upper, has its own Swoosh, and you can pull it tight or let it hang.
The latter is exactly why this model has its own audience. The strap is not a construction requirement but a choice you make every day. Pulled tight the shoe looks like a compact basketball shoe; draped loosely over the collar it becomes a statement. No other Air Force gives you that switch.
Under the strap the rest just does its job. The collar is heavily padded up to above the ankle bone, the upper is sturdy leather with stitching that crisply divides the panels, and beneath sits the familiar thick cupsole with the air chamber that gives the whole family its name. On the sole rim AIR is cut into the rubber, always in the same spot at the rear.
