About Jordan Air Spizike

Jordan Air Spizike: four Jordans in one shoe

The Spizike from 2006 is not a new design but a collage. The name sticks Spike to Mike: director Spike Lee appeared in the 1980s as his film character Mars Blackmon as the advertising face alongside Michael Jordan, famously insisting it had to be the shoes. Twenty years later that duo was honored in shoe form — assembled from recognizable parts of the early Jordans Lee promoted back then.

The nice thing is you can just point to those parts. The elephant print on the toe and heel comes from the Air Jordan 3 — though it’s used here in more places than the original ever dared. The triangular side panel with an open window echoes the wings of the Air Jordan 4, the translucent plastic lace lock comes straight from the Air Jordan 5, and the heel shows the Air unit openly in view. Anyone familiar with the individual models reads the Spizike like a photo album.

The titles on this page require one note: the selection now largely consists of the Spizike Low, the low cut that brought the collage down to the ankle and has driven the recent wave of reissues. The classic mid-high version is identified by titles without “Low”. In addition, GS, PS and TD appear for the kids’ sizes — with this model’s unusual proportions there’s extra reason to read the code.

Within the Jordan house the Spizike is the odd one out: not a numbered generation, but a story about the man who told the stories. That makes it the most accessible entry to the early line — sample four classics in one pair, without having to buy four.

On this page you can see which versions of the Jordan Air Spizike are currently hottest according to the Hypescore, from what price they’re available and how many shops have them in stock.
