The adidas Megaride AG takes the idea behind the Megaride and opens it up wider. Where the base model concentrates its tunnels mainly under the heel, the AG has a whole row of open cavities running the full length of the sole. That turns the underside into a visible framework: you can look straight through it and see exactly where the shoe gets its support.
The upper responds to that technique with layering. Open mesh forms the base, with sculptural overlays that curl up from the sole and incorporate the three stripes into the relief. The toe is shielded, the heel firmly shaped, and the whole looks more like sporting equipment than a fashion shoe, even though that is precisely what it is.
This version also saw a collaboration with designer Willy Chavarria, which indicates how seriously adidas takes this silhouette. If you want the same archive idea in a calmer form, the regular Megaride makes more sense; if you want even more construction, the Megaride F50 is the next step.
