Sean McDowell and the Nike Air Max Plus
Sean McDowell designed the Nike Air Max Plus in 1998, the model later best known by the abbreviation TN. At Nike we associate more than seven hundred variants with its name, almost all from that single family. There are also two derivative models that use the same upper. The Air Max Plus is instantly recognizable for two things: the plastic ribs that run like a cage over the upper, and the color gradient that usually sits beneath them. Separate air chambers sit under the heel and the forefoot. That shape has hardly been changed since its introduction, so versions from widely different years still exist side by side. The differences are almost always in the colorway and the mesh material.
In addition to the base model you'll find the Air VaporMax Plus, which places the same upper on a fully visible sole, and the Air Max Plus 3 with a more tightly cut rib pattern and a lower cut.
