Mizuno size chart: what size should you get?

Mizuno is a Japanese sports brand, and its sizing clearly differs from the European standard. All fifteen women’s sizes differ from a generic conversion, as do nineteen of the twenty-two men’s sizes. If you rely on your usual size here, you’ll consistently end up with the wrong fit.

Consistently one size smaller

For women, US 8.5 is EU 39, while the standard chart lists it as 40. For men, US 9.5 corresponds to EU 42.5 instead of 43.

So Mizuno assigns the same foot a lower EU size. If you convert using a random size chart, you’ll order too large.

Fit

We don’t give brand-wide sizing advice for Mizuno, and that’s a deliberate choice. The models vary too much.

The Wave Rider 28 is the clearest example. It’s the only model in our entire study where “true to size” is not the most common answer: nearly half of wearers found it ran a full size small. According to the available feedback, its successor, the Wave Rider 29, fits true to size.

With Mizuno, assess each model individually, and when in doubt, use the centimeter column above instead of your usual size.

The UK column is accurate

Interestingly, the UK sizing is much more consistent. There’s just one discrepancy across the fifteen women’s rows and four across the twenty-two men’s rows.

The women’s range also extends notably lower, down to EU 33, while the men’s range goes up to 52.5. So there’s more coverage than usual at both ends.
