Some sneakers borrow their best idea from a sibling. This one took it from the Air Jordan 3 — and got away with it.
The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Black Cement” from 2023 is a love letter to the AJ3. Black nubuck forms the base, while that grey elephant print — the cement pattern that made the Jordan 3 legendary in 1988 — covers the toe box, heel and side panel. A white Swoosh on top, a cream-colored, vintage-tinted midsole underneath, and the Wings logo on the heel. Two generations of Jordan DNA in one low-top.
That’s why I’m pulling it from the vault for this feature: it’s one of those rare lows that doesn’t feel like a stripped-down version of something bigger, but a complete statement in its own right. The elephant print does the heavy lifting, the black nubuck keeps it mature, and that sail-colored sole instantly gives it the “been sitting in the closet for years” glow — even when it’s fresh out of the box.
And the market agrees with me. While many lows drop below retail within a season, this one continues to hold its value: on Solezilla, it still goes for well over two hundred euros, with a Hypescore of 60 (RADIATING) and 86% Grail rating in the community. Cement print doesn’t age. It only gets better.
