Why I put the adidas Megaride AG “White” in my rotation instead of the Chavarria

adidas Megaride AG White KI6716 side profile

These landed in my own rotation this week, and only now do I get why the Megaride pulls so much reaction. This is not a tidy, well-behaved runner. It is a cream-white monster with a midsole that looks like someone ran a milling machine through it: open channels, a caged rim, and a silhouette that takes up the whole pavement. Some shoes fall in line with your outfit. This one decides it.

Up close, what stands out is how tonal it all is. The upper is mesh with synthetic overlays, all in the same cream-to-off-white tone, with 3-Stripes that barely contrast — you only catch them when the light hits right. Under that sits the huge, cut-out white sole, trimmed with a black outsole that peeks out just beneath. It is Y2K tech without the loud accents that usually come with it; here it is one big monochrome block.

A caged sole you clock from ten metres

The whole story is in that midsole. The hollows and ribs give the shoe an almost mechanical look, and in person it is chunkier than photos let on — this is a dad-shoe with teeth. Wear it with a straight or lightly wide leg that can carry the bulk: cargos, heavy denim, a tapered sweatpant. Go skinny underneath and you lose the proportions. All-white is on the table, but with this cream material a little attention to dirt is not a bad idea if you actually plan to walk in them.

Why I took the standard pair, not the collab

The Megaride got its biggest push from the Willy Chavarria collab — the designer version that put the silhouette on the map. Nice thing, but it sits far higher when you can find it at all. I took the standard AG “White” for a fraction of that, and honestly, for daily wear that is the smarter move. Same base shape, same presence, without worrying about a kerb.

And the numbers back me up. Across the shops on Solezilla.com the AG “White” runs from around €102 to €107 at the bottom — Solebox, Foot District and GOAT — up to the €190 retail price, where a whole row of shops sits: Foot Locker, JD Sports, Courir, Breuninger and more. That is thirty-plus clean listings in euros, with StockX at €128 and Farfetch at €133 in between. For US buyers there is stock too: four listings in dollars, from $139 at Stadium Goods US up to $190. No UK listing in pounds right now, so a British buyer is looking at shipping on top.

The Hypescore sits at 38, band CHARGING — the charge is building, not yet at full power, which is exactly the moment a pair is still affordable before the market wakes up. Want to see which shop has which size at which price, line them up on the adidas overview or the Megaride model page. My advice: take it while it is still CHARGING. The full offer list is on the AG “White” page.
