HOKA size chart: which size should you get?

Know your size? Check out all HOKA sneakers and instantly see which shop offers the lowest price.

HOKA is one of the few brands that uses third sizes rather than half sizes. The label shows 39⅓ or 44⅔, not 39.5 or 44.5. These increments fall in different places than the half sizes you’re used to, which explains why almost every row differs from a generic conversion chart.

Third sizes, just like adidas

The HOKA sizing ladder runs 39⅓, 40, 40⅔, 41⅓, 42. For women, all fifteen comparable sizes differ from the standard, both in EU and UK sizing. For men, fifteen of the eighteen differ in EU sizing, and seventeen of the eighteen in UK sizing.

So a shoe listed as HOKA 44.5 is a conversion provided by the retailer, not an official factory size. The chart below keeps the fractions intact.

A broad size range

The men’s range goes up to EU 52, which is unusually extensive for a running brand. The women’s range runs from 35⅓ to 45⅓.

HOKA publishes the foot length in millimeters behind a toggle on its website. For a brand where fit is the entire selling point, that’s the most accurate place to start.

Fit

HOKA fits true to size. That applies to road models such as the Clifton and the Bondi, and it’s one of the more solidly supported conclusions from our research.

The HOKA story isn’t about length, but width. The shoes look substantial because of their thick soles, but the actual last is a standard width. If you have wide feet, check whether the model is available in a wide version instead of going up a size.

One exception is the Speedgoat, HOKA’s trail model, which runs slightly snug. Going up one size may be worth considering. Keep in mind that one step up with HOKA means a third size — from 42 to 42⅔, not 42.5, because that size doesn’t exist in this brand’s range.

The HOKA size chart

Still unsure?

Measure your foot from heel to longest toe and compare that length with the cm column. Do this while standing and at the end of the day. With a brand that uses third sizes, the centimeter measurement is by far the most useful reference, as it lets you bypass the entire fractions issue.

Once you know your size, you’re two clicks away from being done. Enter it in the filter and you’ll only see shops that have your size in stock, with the cheapest first. No more keeping multiple tabs open to compare prices, and no guesswork at checkout.

Frequently asked questions about HOKA sizes

Why does HOKA have sizes such as 44⅔?

HOKA uses third sizes instead of half sizes. These increments fall in different places than the half sizes used by other brands, so a HOKA 44⅔ is not the same as a 44.5 from another brand.

Do HOKA shoes run large or small?

There’s no simple rule of thumb, because almost every row differs from the standard conversion: all fifteen women’s sizes, and fifteen of the eighteen men’s sizes. Use the chart or the centimeter measurement to convert your size.

What is the largest HOKA size?

The men’s range runs from 39⅓ to EU 52, while the women’s range runs from 35⅓ to 45⅓.
