About Vans SK8-Low

The low counterpart of the SK8-Hi

The Vans SK8-Low is the low version of the iconic SK8-Hi. Where the Hi wraps the ankle, the Low keeps it low and open, with the same recognizable Vans DNA: the curved sidestripe along the side, an upper of suede and canvas, and the familiar vulcanized waffle sole with the red foxing line beneath. It’s a classic skate shoe in a lighter, more everyday silhouette.

Sidestripe, suede and waffle sole

The construction is pure Vans. The upper combines suede on the toe and side with canvas, with the signature Vans sidestripe as the highlight. A padded collar provides comfort around the ankle, and underfoot sits the vulcanized sole with the waffle tread that gives grip on the board. It’s the familiar skate construction, cut low.

Classic, with a reissue touch

The SK8-Low appears both in the standard version and the Reissue SF version, with a slightly more vintage finish and an aged, off-white sole. The shoe also lends itself to collaborations and themed editions, including a Simpsons edition. The shape remains the same; the color and theme change.

Alongside the other Vans classics

The SK8-Low stands alongside Vans’ best-known models, such as the high SK8-Hi and the Old Skool. They all share the sidestripe, the suede-and-canvas upper and the vulcanized sole. Within that range, the SK8-Low is the choice for those who want to keep the skate look low and light.

What differs between versions

The low skate shape, the sidestripe and the vulcanized waffle sole remain the same across versions. What varies is the color, the material and whether it’s the standard, Reissue SF or a collab version. Place two versions side by side and the shoe is the same; the trimming changes.
