About Vans Lampin

The slim skate shoe from the Vans archive

The Vans Lampin is a low, vulcanized skate shoe from Vans’ retro-skate corner. Unlike the broader classics, the Lampin is slim and streamlined, with a slightly arched, pointed toe and a low-cut upper of suede or canvas. It doesn’t have a large sidestripe, only the small Vans flag on the side, keeping the silhouette tight and clean. Underfoot is the familiar vulcanized sole.

Suede or canvas, vulcanized sole

The construction is classic Vans, but in a more refined package. The upper comes in soft suede or sturdy canvas, cut low and narrow, with minimal detailing. The vulcanized sole provides the flexibility and board feel Vans is known for, while the pointed toe gives the Lampin its own recognizable line. It’s a shoe that relies on its shape, not ornamentation.

A collab favorite

The clean, uniform shape makes the Lampin a popular model for collaborations. It has appeared with Comme des Garçons, Supreme and artist Geoff McFetridge, and as the premium OG Lampin LX from Vans’ Vault line. The shape remains the same each time; the material, the print and the brand behind it change.

Alongside the other retro Vans

The Lampin is part of Vans’ heritage models, alongside retro silhouettes like the Sid with its large V logo and the Epoch. They all bring back a less obvious Vans silhouette, outside the most well-known names. They are connoisseur shoes within the brand’s lineup.

What varies by version

The slim, low shape with a pointed toe and the vulcanized sole remain the same across versions. What changes is the material, suede or canvas, and the color, print or collab edition. Place two versions side by side and the shoe is the same; the styling determines the rest.
