About Vans Anaheim Factory

Back to the Factory in Anaheim

The Anaheim Factory line points back to where the brand began: the workshop at 704 E. Broadway in Anaheim, where Paul Van Doren and his brother made their first pairs in 1966 and sold them on the spot. The very first twelve pairs went out the door on September 16, 1966.

Silhouettes with their original numbers

The collection brings the classics back under their original names — before they were called Old Skool, Authentic and Sk8-Hi, they simply carried the numbers 36, 44 and 38. Hallmarks include the thicker, glossier “marshmallow” sidewall from the vulcanization process, paired with original colors like racing red and mineral green.

Old silhouette, modern inside

Where the Anaheim versions set themselves apart from the regular line is mostly underfoot: UltraCush cushioning makes the vintage model lighter and softer than the original, without altering the shape.
