About Saucony Endorphin Speed 5
Saucony Endorphin Speed 5
The Endorphin Speed is the shoe many runners describe as the most useful in their rotation. The model sits between the daily trainer and the racing shoe, with a plate in the sole that is not carbon but nylon: more flexible, more forgiving and better suited to daily use.
That difference is key. A carbon plate makes the toe-off stiff and fast, but also forces a certain running style and wears out faster. Nylon bends with the foot and returns energy more gently, keeping the shoe usable at all paces. Around that is the brand’s fast foam, with the name printed on the midsole rim and a midsole that flares out toward the heel.
The fifth generation got more foam and a more flexible upper, in line with the rest of the range. The upper is a thin woven panel with a padded tongue and the brand logo as a curved line motif across the side.
Within the range, the Saucony Endorphin Pro 4 is the racing shoe with a carbon plate, the Saucony Endorphin Elite the top model, and the Saucony Ride 18 the neutral daily trainer.
