About Salomon Speedcross
Salomon Speedcross
The Speedcross is Salomon’s best-known trail shoe, recognizable by the aggressive tread under the sole. Deep, widely spaced arrow-shaped lugs provide grip on soft, muddy and loose terrain, and shed mud between steps. The model is built for the trail, not the road.
The upper is close and protective, with a reinforced toe and panels that keep the foot in place on uneven ground. Instead of regular laces the shoe uses the Quicklace system: a thin cable you tighten with one pull and tuck into a pocket above the tongue. The brand name is printed large on the side, and under the sole sits the brand’s Contagrip rubber.
The Speedcross is now also seen on the street, where the coarse tread and technical look appeal beyond running. That fits with the broader interest in trail and outdoor shoes as everyday sneakers.
The model is given an incrementing number as each new generation appears; for the lifestyle side of the brand see the Salomon XT-6.
