The name is an address: Club, because in 1985 this was a shoe for the tennis club, and the C stood for Champion. Where other brands named their tennis shoes after players, Reebok named theirs after the place where it was worn. That modesty defines the whole model: the Club C was never designed to stand out, and precisely that is its strongest quality forty years later.
The flag on the side
The most recognizable detail is small: on the mid-panel there is a stitched square with the brand name in script, and next to it a British flag. That flag recalls the brand’s British origins, and it appears on virtually every classic edition.
