The racecar shoe, now with a wedge

The Puma Speedcat Wedge takes the Speedcat, Puma’s low shoe with a past in motorsport, and lifts the heel. A hidden wedge in the sole raises the rearfoot while the forefoot remains flat and racy. That way the shoe keeps the quick, low toe of the original but gets the lift of a little heel. It is the women’s version of a silhouette that began as a driver’s shoe.

Low or high, always with the Formstrip

The Wedge comes in two forms. A low one that stays close to the classic Speedcat, and a high one with a padded ankle collar and a velcro strap across the instep, similar to the Speedcat Mid. Both carry the Formstrip, Puma’s curved stripe, and the Puma cat on the toe. The upper is made of premium suede, which gives the shoe a soft, luxurious look.

Where the racing line comes from

The Speedcat descends from the shoes drivers wear in the car: a thin, flat sole for pedal feel and a low, snug-fitting shape. The Wedge retains that motorsport outsole with the chevron tread at the heel and simply adds that hidden wedge underneath. The origin remains visible; the use shifts from track to street.

Suede in tonal and contrasting versions

The suede is the constant; the detailing varies. Some versions keep everything in one shade, tonal and restrained; others set the Formstrip in contrast, making the racing line stand out. The shape and the wedge remain the same; the finish determines whether the shoe looks understated or bold.

What differs per version

The wedge, the motorsport sole and the Formstrip stay the same across versions. What varies is the height—low or with a padded ankle collar and strap—and the suede finish. Place two versions side by side and the base is the same; the upper and the finish change the rest.
